Dimensional Shifts: Possible, or the Stuff of Dreams?

[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Status: currently binge watching The Man in the High Castle. It’s based on a Philip K. Dick novel. The premise is that the Nazis and Japan won WWII and partitioned the States. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]But there is a multiverse element to the story, in that certain people (Travellers) can pop between dimensions. So inter-dimensional travel is possible for some. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Pop? [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]More or less. So what do we think of this scenario? Possible?[/speech_bubble]

[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Question: are they dimensions of time or space? Or both? Or something else? [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Just space, I think. Time seems static. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]But maybe not? [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Are the Travellers able to bring things with them? Or share knowledge of other dimensions? [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Yes, they bring films of the alternate world with them. Hitler was collecting them. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]So some people saw the US and the Allies winning the war – on film. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Such an interesting concept. I feel like multiple dimensions of time and space could definitely exist. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]I have had dreams that feel like I was in another dimension. My life, but different. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Some of the people see themselves being killed on film. Can you imagine? [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] I feel like if you are okay with the idea of being able to travel from one dimension to another, it should be less of a shock to see yourself die. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Actually, it would answer a lot of questions. One of my biggest issues with death is that I won’t get to see how things turn out. Being able to watch from another dimension sounds cool to me. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Ha! Yes, true. One of my fears is that I WILL live to see how things turn out.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Big storm here right now, BTW. Seems fitting.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Maybe a portal is opening up. Which brings me to another question: how do the Travellers in fact “travel”? And do they control their travel? [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]They think or meditate then pop out of their reality into another. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] I LOVE this idea! [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] So it’s about connecting with alternate dimensions and opening up a virtual portal. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Seems to be. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] I keep picturing Dr. Who and the crack in the wall. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]I am so not a Whovian! Never watched it. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] The crack in the wall is a recurring theme for the eleventh Doctor, and my elementary understanding of it is that it was created when two points in time and space that should never have touched, in fact touch, which changes things all up and down the timeline.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Nice. I remember hearing once about a man who went with a Native American into the Grand Canyon. He had to be blindfolded. The guide brought him to a cliff wall, where he could walk through into another world. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]I would love to do that.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Like James Earl Jones in Field of Dreams! [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Kind of, yes![/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] We (humans) seem to be fascinated with other worlds. [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Perhaps because we instinctively know they exist?[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Maybe because we’d like a chance to start over and do things differently? [/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]I think everyone would like a do-over at key points in their life. I know I have a few.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] The chance to use what we know to fix things in the past. Hindsight is 20/20 vision, etc. But I think it’s a dangerous practice.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Marshall McLuhan: We look at the present through a rear-view mirror. We march backwards into the future.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]That’s the whole conundrum of going back in time to kill Hitler as a baby. If you could, would you?[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Um, I don’t know.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Was it an individual who caused the Nazi movement (Mein Kampf) or is it more than just one man?[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ](Forget about the morality of killing a helpless baby!)[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Schrodinger’s Cat.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Okay, explain How does Schrodinger’s cat fit this scenario? Or not fit, given its precarious existence?[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Well said, wise one.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Well, if you replace the cat with the political, economic and social environment of the 1930s, even without Hitler, what would have emerged when the box was lifted? It’s a stretch, but I do feel like SC, and quantum physics as a whole, has a lot to do with dimensional shifts.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Entanglement, and all that.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]And who knows what CERN has uncovered? Maybe we have already shifted as a dimension? I mean, that would explain Trump and Boris Johnson…[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Completely possible! Maybe that’s why your electronic field and those of your devices are no longer compatible![/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]Could be. The veils – or walls – are thin, I suspect.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]If this could in fact happen, who do you think in our world has travelled from another?[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Elvis, undoubtedly.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”a” icon=”bast” name=”Bast” ]I think it may have been Gene Roddenberry. Or Isaac Asimov. Or Philip K. Dick, even.[/speech_bubble]
[speech_bubble type=”ln” subtype=”b” icon=”cooch.jpg” name=”Cooch” ] Which would make The Man in the High Castle more an autobiography than fiction, perhaps? I’m intrigued.[/speech_bubble]
